The Hospital Scene...and I'm the darn Patient! (read the previous blog)

Sunday night I'm using the new chef's knife Jeff brought home from one of his clients. This knife is gorgeous and I am happily chopping away an onion for some Mexican Casserole. I'm thinking, wow, this knife is sharp I need to be really careful. I start yapping away with Jeff, when I suddenly announce...
"Jeff, I just chopped off a chunk of my finger"

I couldn't look at the chopping board. I couldn't imagine what was sitting there with my onions. My knight in shining armor jumps up grabs a towel and throws it over my hand, "apply pressure" are my orders. I feel a thick coat of sweat cover me and I think I want to pass out. I can push out kids with no drugs, no problem...but a paper cut or something like this, forget it, my stomach flips.

Jeff scrambles to get me some ice water, three children, and my left overs on the cutting board before he meets me in the car.
I call a few prayer warriors on my drive to the ER. I also call my amazing friend Hannah and her wonderful husband Chris to help me with the kids (as if their four aren't enough work). Hannah, my blessing, was sitting in the ER parking lot waiting for us when we arrived. She took all three of my children so Jeff could be with me.

Now I'll CUT this long story short. Since it was a clean cut?? they gave me a tetanus shot, put some special wrap around my finger, another few layers of gauze, and told me to be a happy little gimp.

So today was interesting; I can't change diapers or get my finger wet...okay, that limits me to doing nothing. Any pressure on my arm, kills my finger. So my left thumb is in pain and my right arm feels like someone punched me from the tetanus shot. Thank you Vicky and Mom for doing everything for me. I think I should fake the pain next week, because I received so many compliments on the hairstyle Mom gave today. Maybe she should be a beautician...

Please pray for me for a speedy healing. I need my finger to function...oh my gosh, I'm dysfunctional!

Good Morning Williams Kids! phew I smell a dirty diaper!

Hi All,

Well since I don't have the camera near by you won't get pictures. But, let me talk your ear off for a moment.

The adventures of raising three monkeys has been just that. I couldn't imagine opting to never have kids. My life was never this fun and exciting before they arrived. It's like a preschool soap opera over here every day...minus the patient in the hospital scene, praise God.

Well, what is my morning like with these little guys? Maybe this will bring back memories for some of you, for others you are living the dream like me. Here's a typical Jen morning...

Somewhere between 5:30 and 6:30 Sienna wakes up to hang out with Daddy and hold him hostage to play My Little Ponies with her before he ventures off to work. Super awesome Sienna lets me and the boys sleep in until around 8:15...that will change when Jakey starts school, arggh!

At 8:15 I get up, rested, refreshed, and by the way I look like sleeping beauty when I wake from my slumber (a girl can dream). I can usually count on a good head butt from Grant as he excitedly starts his day by charging at me in the bed.

If I start my day off right, I will make my bed
"Jakey and Sienna please get off, Mommy is trying to make the bed"
..."Jakey!" okay, my bed is made.

My ideal day and most days I close my bedroom door and take my shower. I close the door because Grant screams his little head off if I put him in his bouncy seat now. He is much too mobile to be restricted to the electric chair. So I close my door, check that there are no choking hazards on the ground, then hop in the shower. All three monkeys are suppose to stay in my room while I take my half hour shower.
"Sienna did you close the door? I don't want Grant to get out"...Slam! "Thank you" "Is Grant still in the room?" "yes mommy!"

After my refreshing shower I pick out the beautiful outfit I will wear for the day. This is usually the outfit that looks pretty good when it starts out, but it is also the standard "that's a mom" uniform...You know, cute top, jeans, I refuse to wear tennis shoes, so I put on my cute sandals. Unfortunately, by the time Jeff gets home, I pray he focuses on my smile more than my adorable outfit which by now has some kind of spilled food on my shirt and someones boogers on my pants. I am guilty of wiping my kids noses with my hand and then using my pants as a tissue, only if the tissue is not available, which for some reason is my predicament daily. Well, at least I start out fresh.

After I do my hair, the fun continues...
"Jakey go get dressed, Sissy put on some panties , Grant come here so Mommy can change your diaper" changing a diaper
"Jakey go pick out your clothes, we're going to leave" wacked by the soft pj pants Jakey just flung through the air
"Sienna Grace I'm going to spank your little butt if I see it again" (I do enjoy spanking her little butt, it's so cute; mind you the spanking is a tap on the butt, that literally couldn't kill a fly, and leaves my daughter wailing for a good fifteen minutes). tap! "AAAAAAAAHHHH you a mean mommy, you can't come to my pawty!" "Sienna you need to get your panties on"

By now I have the diaper changed, Jakey walks in wearing a navy blue star wars shirt, navy blue sweats, with his boxers bulging out the top of his pants, maybe a jacket (it's suppose to be 77 degrees today) and at times my pajama shirt is tied around his neck "mommy I have a cape!" "That's great Jakey!"

Everyone sigh...here comes Sienna in her pretty little dress. I can hardly wait to practice those french braids again (for the 8th consecutive day). "Come here Sissy let's do your hair pretty"

"Grant what's in your mouth?" finger swipe, Grants response "AAHHHHHHHH!" "Grant please stop eating books"

Sienna climbs up on the vanity stool and I become Jen the beautician, or I revert back to Jen the little girl playing dress up with a baby doll. Here comes the hair part, down the middle, pin up one side, now we gather the hair, the tri split and here comes the first braid "OW Mommy you hooting me!" "Sienna I am not hurting you I haven't even started" "you ah hooting me!" "Oh Sienna Grace, just be patient, if you stand still we can get this over fast" Now repeat from the "OW Mommy, about 15 more times until our french braid is over. I add two little flower bows to the ends and tada! My little angel is ready to start her day.

"Come here fat pants let's get you dressed...what's in your mouth? please stop eating things!" swipe, Grant "AAAHHH!"

"Come on lovies, let's go downstairs!" Jakey, "Are we going to eat breakfast?" "Yes, baby I'm going to make breakfast" "Can I eat a brownie?" "No Jakey you cannot eat a brownie for breakfast, those are for church" *or when mommy needs to feed herself during an overwhelming situation.

I am a big protein girl so we usually have eggs and toast for breakfast. The best is when we have some avocado on the side...mmmm! Making breakfast, kids playing, Grant is happy, we're all having a good time

"AAAAHHHH, Mommy Jakey took pinkie pie!" "Jakey don't take your sister's toys from her, please play nice" Pinkie Pie (my little pony) flies through the air. "Jakey we don't throw toys to girls, go get it and hand it to your sister"

Put on the breaks...

A Couple Pictures

These kids are so fun.

Jakey is doing great at preschool. He loves his teacher and friends. After school we all climb the jungle gym and have a snack...not sure how that's going to work with the rain tomorrow. We are getting ready for him to start kindergarten. I took him by his new school and showed him all the swings and the beautiful playground.
Jakey sayings: "how about we do my idea first!?""that's despicable""oh bother"

Sissy is funny. She still wakes up around 5:30am and hangs out with Jeff. He has the best time with his little "angel" in the morning. When she's not with her best friend Daddy, Sissy loves her doctor "checker" kit. She checks her babies daily...my little hypochondriac.
Sissy sayings: "she can come to my pawty!" "well, fiwst of all..." "oh, ha ha, i know..."

Grant pants is a happy little guy. He loves to scream, laughs his head off at Jakey, and tries his hardest to play with the kids. He has three teeth now and is working hard to get out, I think, three more. His hair is coming in curly, I love it! I tried starting him on food yesterday, so happily preparing fresh butternut squash. Well, he opened his mouth big, the food entered, he smiled, mouth open, never shut, talked, and let all the food spill out...I think he needs some practice.
Grant sayings: "mooooooom, moooooom" he usually says this deep in his throat and blowing a bubble with his babas.

Well that's my pathetic little update. I tried ;)

My day My thoughts

Today was a wonderful day. Jakey and Grant had their 5 year and 8 month doctors appointment. I decided to share Sienna with Grandma and Grandpa so she spent the day at Disneyland. I missed her so much. I always have my little Williams team all together. She had a wonderful time. Jakey and Grant had a great time too. If you can imagine that. Our pediatrician can be extremely entertaining. It was so cute to hear Jakey laughing so hard at all of his wild ideas. Turns out my fat little Grant is as big as 60% of one year old boys. He weighed 23lbs. 5 ozs. Maybe I'll start him on food this month, add another pound or so.

I don't think there is a day that goes by that I don't feel completely in love with my husband and children. I thank the LORD for blessing me with each one of them. I am so grateful to have a husband who loves me and works so hard for us so I can stay home with my children. He is the most involved and loving father I know. Even Grant is beginning to realize what a great dad he has. When Jeff gets home from work, Jakey and Sienna scream when he opens the garage door to walk inside, then Grant looks up, screams, and goes crawling up to Jeff to greet him. He's so little and he already knows, Daddy's fun!

These little people are growing so fast. What a joy it is to see these little faces each day, to hear the things they say, to watch them have experiences for the first times. Children are such a blessing from the LORD...and I've been blessed with three of the most precious children...Thank you LORD.

Jakey's Birthday!

Well I can now say I am not the best blogger. Sorry for the lousy updates.

I will first brief you on Jakey's 5th birthday. I cannot believe my little guy is 5 years old already. He is can be thoughtful, sweet, energetic, and impulsive all wrapped up in one silly bundle. This year Jeff and I decided to throw him the party of all parties. This time 80 friends and family joined us at the Bowling Alley for three fun-filled hours of food, bowling, chaos, presents, and cake. Jakey loved his party and we are having such a wonderful time watching this little boy grow.

Jakey's year-in-review...

Jakey and his sis enjoyed making mud pies in the backyard. On occasion I was blessed by servings of mud soup I would find stored in the refrigerator.

He has never been much of one to color, but this year Jakey really took to painting. Give that little guy a jar of paint and a brush and he could paint anything: paper, stucco, windows, walls...you just can't hold back our little artist.

Jakey became a big brother for the second time. As soon as his brother was born (another water baby), Jakey ran to his bathtub and grabbed a handful of boats and pirates to share with his new baby. There I was holding minutes old Grant with little pirates and boats floating around us.

This summer Jakey learned how to ride his bike without training wheels. He did amazing. I don't think we have ever had a hard fall on it. He's good!

This September my little guy started preschool. He thoroughly enjoys his friends and teacher. Everyday when I pick him up I bring a snack and he picks which side of the playground he wants to eat at. Then we eat, chat about the day, and play before we go home. I love watching him and hearing about his day and who he played with.

Jakey thinks he has watched Star Wars since his daddy shows him "clips" on youtube. So that was the theme he picked for his 5 year birthday party. Those clips landed him 4 light sabers, numerous figurines, and battleships...all of which he enjoys, but the family favorites are the light sabers. We have family battles.

Santa's little helper he is. Jakey and sis had a wonderful time decorating and redecorating the tree this year. I don't think a day went by that he didn't rearrange all the bulbs on the tree (thank goodness for plastic bulbs). One day I walked up to my room to find my scarf hanging from side to side on my headboard and beautifully decorated with every bulb from our tree. The next day's mission involved help from Sis as they tied floss from the staircase and created a zip-line to then send the bulbs sliding back downstairs. Luckily for all, the ornaments eventually made their way back to the tree in time for Christmas.

Mr. Helpful Mr. Thoughtful:

Jakey is my big helper and has been known to help me entertain brother, sister, unload the dishwasher, unload the dryer, bring dirty clothes downstairs, put away his clean clothes, picks up his blocks, and gets himself dressed every morning.

He is also my thoughtful little guy. If he is getting himself a snack of apple or yogurt and blueberries, or even a sandwich, he almost always makes a serving for his sister or me. It melts my heart every time to see how considerate he is of us.

Well that's a little bit about my Jakey Bear this year. I am excited to see him mature and grow this coming year. It's bitter sweet to watch my baby grow up. I pray everyday for who he will be.

Love you all my friends. I'll try to get some Christmas pictures up soon.

WOW! Can someone pull the Fire Alarm!

Hi Friends,

Jeff noticed the fire this morning around 10 am. It concerned me immediately, it looked so close. It was at Green River which is a couple exits up from us. By noon, the homes at Gypsum Canyon were being evacuated and that was too close for my comfort. We started packing our clothes (and I mean all of them) and the kids baby books, and pictures. I thought maybe I was being silly, but by the time we were ready to leave, everybody on our street were leaving too. We are staying with Jeff's parents, so we are safe, and feel completely blessed to be safe together. Now I am glued to the TV and internet to see if our house will be here tomorrow. Please pray for the firefighters and all those losing their homes right now.
